Welcome to Amethyst Quilts

What an exciting July we had. The bus trip to International Quilt Festival was well received and we've had requests to charter another bus to Road to California at the Ontario Convention Center in Ontario, CA. If you're interested in attending Road to California with us, please be sure to sign up soon. Seats go fast. We will be getting all of the details together and we get closer. As you know, January will be here before we know it.

Sylvia will be teaching the French Braid on August 3rd. Bigi will be holding two classes this month on the Sunflower Quilt. Judy Simpson will be teaching the Puzzle Box Quilt and Batik Blast. Judy Colvin will show us how to make a One Block Wonder. Kathy will be teaching a quick project called Dragonflies.

The Peridot is August's Crown Jewel Block of the Month. If you haven't joined us for Crown Jewels, we feature a new jewel each month. You receive 3 9" blocks (finished) for $4. It's a fast, quick and easy project that goes much faster using 3" Finished Triangles on a Roll.

Join us each month for the International Mystery and take a quilter's tour of the globe. This month we make a trip to the country of Austria. Our Governator's home country. Come in and choose your colorway. Choices are Ski Slopes - blues, Mountain Sunset - reds and oranges, or Chalet - tans and browns.

Be a part of our Paint Can Challenge. If you haven't picked up your paint can, there are still some available. They're $8.00 and they contain a 1/2 yard of fabric and a couple of paint swatches. The challenge is open until October 31st. Voting will be held on November 1st and 2nd. Awards will be given on November 4th.

We will be having our first Bunco Night on Friday, August 29th. Come in and enjoy all of the goodies and fun. The ante is $5 and a fat quarter. If you've never played, come in and learn and get "hooked".

Kathy Davies is starting a new Charm Swap group in September. This is a great way to clear out some of your stash and receive a little at the same time. Two groups are being formed, Batiks and Holiday Mix. See Kathy for all the details.
